Gosh, it's been awhile since I've updated this thing. I guess maybe I've been busy! Yeah, I definitely have been busy.

Since July 5....I've worked a lot at Wally World. I actually kind of like it. Customers are usually pretty nice, and time moves by pretty quickly now that I am by myself and not in "training mode" anymore.

In other news, I got a JOB! I was starting to think that there wasn't any hope for a teaching job, but I wasn't giving up completely yet because I had been told in college that teachers have until July 10 to resign or transfer to another school. On July 10th, a principal called me and said that she had a late resignation and was wondering if I would like to come in for an interview for a kindergarten position! I called back and told her I would love to, so we set up an appointment for that Thursday at 9:00 a.m. (this was a Monday). FOr the next two days, I freaked out about interviewing, but I was very excited to go. I bought a new suit to interview in, and I went on Thursday. I thought the interview went okay. Afterwards I kept thinking, "Man, I wish I would have said this instead." They told me I did great, but I figured they might just be saying that to everyone. They told me they had several people to interview and they would let me know something within the week. The next morning when I came home, I had just walked in the door and the phone rang. It was the principal offering me the job! I was like excited beyond belief.

So yesterday, I went and saw my room finally. It's pretty spacious. There is too much to go into detail about, and I don't have time. Kara and I are going to a teacher store tomorrow to buy some things, and then she is going to help me move things around and set it up the way I want it on Thursday. She's just as excited as I am. She's kind of living vicariously through me because she misses teaching!

So I am now officially a kindergarten teacher. How exciting... I'll post pictures of my room later.

The Fourth and Beyond

Yesterday was a lot of fun! I miss spending good quality time with my husband and these past two days off from my new job have been fun because I got to spend time with my hubby of almost a year.

For the holiday, we spent most of the afternoon at Matt's parents house with his parents and his older brother and sister-in-law and their two kids, Alex and Abby. Then we went to my parents house for just a few minutes (because they were going to their neighbors house) and then we came home, grilled out, and went to see fireworks in the town we live beside. It was a pretty nice display. It was just the two of us (surrounded by a townful of people) sitting on a blanket in the bed of his truck, and it was just sort of...romantic :). Then we came home and watched a movie and snacked on homemade brownies and orange swirl ice cream.

Today, we got up and went to Bass Pro Shop. I LOVE that store. That sounds sort of silly since I don't hunt, but I just think it's an awesome store! When we came home, Matt mentioned something about building a decorative pond in the front yard and I sort of mentioned that I thought we should do it too.....

So....now we're officially building a pond in our front yard. We have the outline of it dug already; now we have to make the one part deeper and then put in a liner and all that good stuff.

Here's part of what we started. I look like a dork, but it was hot outside...work with me. Diesel enjoyed his time out of the pen with us, and slept by the tree while we worked.

Well I'm gonna go try and get my hubby to play a game with me before we go to bed. Talk to ya later!

I just love being outside! Today was so hot, but this evening was so beautiful. After I got off of work at 7, Matt came home for a little while so that we could eat together. We grilled some pork loins, potatoes and texas toast. Man was it good. It's probably the best supper we have had for awhile. I cook every night, but things always taste so much better on the grill. After he left, I was outside feeding the dogs, and I just kept thinking....God is so good to us that He lets us experience the outdoors and the beauty of nature. We live in the country and there are fields in front of us, behind us and to the side of us, and maybe it's just the country girl in me talking, but I love seeing the corn grow and the wind dance in the crops. It made me think about my mission trips to Mexico and the simple things that God blesses us with that we take so much advantage of. Even little things like being outside and feeling the cool, intermittent breeze sweep across my shoulders. We have so much in America to be thankful for....

This really wasn't supposed to be a post reflecting the fourth, but hey....it kind of is! I hear fireworks in the background.... FOURTH OF JULY is my favorite holiday...well...I guess it's my favorite day!

Wow. I'm really bad at keeping up with this thing. Sadly enough though, not a whole lot has happened this past week. I did get a job! Not a teaching job, but a summer job. I got hired on at Wally World, and I'm supposed to start orientation tomorrow. I'm really excited about my 10% discount. That doesn't sound like a lot, but we get groceries there (and everything else) and that can turn out to BE a lot of money!

I also had my graduation party at my MILs on Saturday. I'm so appreciative of the fact that she let me have it there. She had been really sick that week prior to it (and it was the week of VBS) and she made the party really nice. It was just a fun time for me. And I got a lot of really nice stuff for graduation. I didn't really expect people to get me things, but I did get some money and a few teacher things  AND I GOT A ......

                                                           GRILL!!!

Brad and Dede (my in-laws) got it for me as a graduation present, but also for both me and Matt as an anniversary present. Isn't that sweet? I know it sounds kind of like a guy thing, but I've been wanting a nice grill for a long time. It sucks having to cook on that charcoal grill. It takes 10 years to grill a burger. So I'm really excited to cook on it. We'll probably do it tomorrow.

And.....I did decide on a name for our furball. It's Piper. I went back and forth an awful lot, but it suits her. Now I just need to get three more cats so I can name them Pru, Phoebe and Paige. (Not really, but a lot of people think that's why I named her that).

I'm going to go figure out what pictures I want to enlarge from our wedding so that I can get that stuff up on the wall (it's been almost a year!) and I'm also going to finish on the graduation CAKE :)

New News-- We got our kitten yesterday. She is the cutest furball I have ever seen. I'm having a problem though, because I can't decide on a name for her. I've almost always referred to her as Miss Priss, because she's very prissy and sassy. My mother was calling her Diva. Therefore, I like the name Priscilla, because I figure I will end up calling her Miss Priss as a nickname. I also happen to like Bible names for pets, and this is a Bible name. However, I also like the names Piper and Phoebe (which is a Bible name as well). More than anything else, this has made me realize how hard it is going to be for me to decide on a name for a child. I mean, I have names picked out that I like, but good grief, I am such a "names" person that I will be changing my mind from day to day!

I think the cat already likes Matt more than me! I played with her a lot at my mom's before I got her, and he barely pet her. As soon as he came home last night, she started crawling all over him. We let her sleep with us last night because she wasn't used to the house yet, and I knew she would cry all night if I shut our door. We didn't get a lot of sleep. She chose to either walk around on us all night or attack our legs or feet. And, she chewed on my hair all night long.

But she's litter trained already (yay!) and I think she really LIKES going in there. She took off running for the litter pan when we came home this afternoon. Actually, it was more like bouncing.

Here are a few pictures of her:

And I also thought I would post a cutesy pic of my handsome husband and our adorable niece and nephew, Abby and Alex, taken this Sunday afternoon at his parents' house--this is what Sundays are all about-- learning about the Lord and relaxing....

Have a great Sunday evening everyone!
